My Favourite Baked Porridge

Good Morning Everyone!

My first healthy recipe of 2017 is here! I don’t know why its taken me so long to share my absolute favourite breakfast? If you have yet to try pro-oats and are looking for a way to spice up your morning routine then let me please introduce pro-oats or baked porridge as I like to call it.

This is such a warming and feel good breakfast to have on one of those wet and miserable mornings, plus, it will keep you satisfied until lunch time. Normally when my alarms goes off in the morning, I head down to the kitchen and turn on the oven to about 180 – 200 degrees. Then I start to prepare my porridge, baked porridge requires a little extra time and effort in the mornings but I don’t really mind because its so worth it for the taste and plus I’m a natural early riser. Maybe if its your first time trying this recipe, you might want to leave it for a day when your not rushing around or for the weekend.

Recipe:

30-40g of porridge oats

Banana and blueberries (as much or as little as you like)

1 egg

1/4 to a 1/2 cup of milk (depending on how soft you like it)

1tsp of vanilla extract

2 tsp of cinnamon

Method:

Beat your egg in a jug and add in some milk, then poor into your bowl of dried porridge oats.

Mix the egg, milk and porridge together until its all forms together like porridge. You will learn what kind of texture you like your baked porridge when you’ve made it a couple of times. I like mine slightly soft so I add about a quarter cup of milk in total.

Add your cinnamon and vanilla extract and mix it around. Then add your fruit and stir until everything is mixed evenly in the bowl.

Place in the oven for 20-30 mins (depending on how well done you like it). I usually leave mine for a bout 25 mins.

At this point I go upstairs and get ready for work while my porridge is baking and when I come down its cooked perfectly to my liking! My pictures really don’t do it justice (need to practice my food photography!)

I hope you enjoy it and please let me know if you try to bake your porridge in the morning 🙂

Take Care,

Lauren xxx
