I have been dieing to share this post with you all as I have been doing a little bit of makeup shopping this month and every time I’m in either Brown Thomas or Arrnotts, I always gravitate towards the Charlotte Tilbury counter, swatching lipsticks or eyeshadows and admiring her beautiful rose gold packaging. This month I ran out of all my makeup – mascara, under eye concealer and powder – don’t you just love it when all of your makeup runs out at the same time? It is always the way!
As an admirer of Charlotte Tilbury and her makeup I decided I would finally treat myself and splurge on her makeup. I already owned two of her products – Film Star Bonze and Glow and the Light Wonder. As Charlotte Tilbury is on the higher price point spectrum I thought I would review the old and new products I purchased and show you how they look on the skin.
First up, Light Wonder Foundation, this foundation is very light coverage, I have applied a generous amount with my beauty blender to build it up to a more medium coverage. For me, this would be more of an everyday foundation as its super light and dewy and contains spf15. It would also be a good choice of foundation if your were heading off on a summer holiday as its not too heavy and it makes your skin have a lovely glowy finish. I think applying it with a beauty blender is the best way to go when applying this foundation. You definitely need a concealer to cover any redness or blemishes you may have as the foundation will not cover this. This foundation retails for €42.00, which is extremely expensive. If you are looking for a dewy foundation I would probably recommend Giorgio Luminous Silk foundation over this one as you definitely get a better product for roughly the same price.
The Retoucher Concealer Stick is a similar product to that of the YSL Touch Eclait, but definitely a lot better! This concealer is a liquid consistency with a very brightening effect for under your eyes. It is best applied with your finger as you get the best coverage from dabbing it on. This product also does a good job of concealing any redness on the nose. I like this product to bring around in my handbag for any touch ups through out the day. Another plus is that it doesn’t settle in any of my fine lines! This product costs €33.
Film Star Bronze and Glow has been a long standing favourite product of mine. As you can see from the photos I desperately need a new one! It is the perfect everyday bronzer and highlighter for my pale skin. I couldn’t imagine using anything else; I love it so much. The highlight is the most finely milled perfect shade for me and gives you the nicest glow for the tip of your nose and cupids bow. I just love this product. This product retails for €65.
Full Fat Lashes Mascara was a product I had extremely high hopes for. It has some really good qualities, like for example, the wand is the perfect size and it does a good job at thickening and curling your lashes. But what disappointed me was it didn’t really lengthen them or make them dramatic enough for me. For a name like ‘Full Fat Lashes’, I was expecting a little bit more if Im being honest. Another thing that disappointed me is that it dried out vey fast. I have only had this mascara for maybe three weeks and it seems like it is all gone already. It also dries on the lashes very quickly as well making it difficult to apply more than one coat of mascara. This product retails for €29.
The Dolce Vita eye-shadow pallet, this product is my favourite item I have tried so far. It is a wonderful eyeshadow pallet for a smokey eye and its so compact for traveling. The shadows are extremely pigmented and really blendable. My lights seemed to have washed away some of the colour from the shadows in my photos but I can assure it looked so much more pigmented and smouldery in person. It also lasted all day on my lids and I probably wore this eyeshadow makeup for 8+ hours. I would definitely buy more of these quads as the quality is tops! This eyeshadow pallet retails for €50.
One of my favourite lipstick shades for a nude lip is Charlotte Tilbury’s “Bitch Perfect”. Its a very creamy consistency so it wont dry out your lips and the packaging for her lipsticks are to die for! This shade is a great nude if you have pale skin like me. Charlotte Tilbury lipstick retail for €32.
I hope you enjoyed this post ladies. If you have any questions about any of the products just ask!
