Affordable skincare: Boots Botanics

Hey Guys! So today I thought I would discuss some of my newest drugstore skincare purchases. Boots Botanics is a range created with the power of plants and plant science to bring you great skincare that actually works. Overall this skincare gets top marks from me, its not offensively scented, so its quite gentle on my sensitive skin. I find with most drugstore skincare items they just smell like chemicals and leave my skin feeling irritated.

For the last 6 months Ive been using the Emma Hardy Moringa Cleansing Balm (review here). This stuff is amazing and it lasted me a whole half a year which is amazing, so you definitely get your €50’s worth! But, recently I wanted to try out a more affordable skincare that suited my skin, because, although expensive skincare is really great sometimes we just need a cheaper alternative that still provides results. I think Ive found it in Boots Botanics and I’m really happy with it so far!

Firstly, the Gentle Cleansing Cream from their All Bright range is a lovely cleansing milk and very moisturising. If you are wearing a heavy long-wearing foundation you may need to do two cleanses just to make sure all of your make-up has been removed. It has a lovely fresh and clean scent, its surprisingly not super aromatherapy smelling which you would expect from a botanical range, however this doesn’t bother me as I prefer my drugstore cleansers to be unscented to avoid any irritation on my skin. For me it does the job and does it nicely, which is why I would describe it as simply a really nice cleansing milk.

I also purchased the Hydrating Day Cream SPF 15 from the All Bright range, this is quite a light wearing day time moisturiser. Its not too heavy that it interferes when you apply your foundation, which is something I love about it. It also has quite a pearly/iridescent sheen to it so its great for helping achieve that summer glowing skin.  Its also formulated with Hyaluronic Acid which is super moisturising and will leave your skin feeling super soft.

As this moisturiser is quite light, I knew I would need a night cream. I picked up what I think is the only night cream from Boots Botanics – Triple Age Renewal. In contrast to the day cream this is a really thick consistency and contains vitamins A, C and E along with Hyaluronic Acid, which helps with skins brightness and firmness. I didn’t purchase this product for its anti-ageing properties but more so to have a hydrating night cream. Boots were doing 3 for 2 anyway, so why not!?

I think a combination of both moisturisers in my routine works really well as they both compliment each other. The night cream makes my skin super hydrated during the night so when I wake up all I need is the light day cream.

As all of these products only cost me €18 all together and Im extremely happy with them. Probably the best under €20 items Ive purchased in a long time.

Take Care,

Lauren xxx
