Hope you all are enjoying the bank holiday weekend? I know I am! Its my first bank holiday Monday off in ages! For todays blog post Ive put together a little 90’s lipliner collection post. I have collected these lipliners over a couple of months as I am big into the nude/brown lip at the moment.
Through trial and error I have learned what kind of shades suit my complexion best and I definitely have my favourites, but I thought I would swatch them all for you so you could get an idea of how they look on the lips. The more warm toned browns like ‘Whirl’ and ‘Soar’ definitely suit me a lot better that the more cool toned shades and some of them look great with heavier makeup than others. ‘Stripdown’ looks amazing with a good tan! I love them all in different ways.
I love Mac lipliners, I think they’re great and they have great staying power. I have one Bobbi Brown one in there too, the Bobbi Brown formula is a little softer than the Mac formula, but, still amazing nonetheless. The colours I have collected are, Soar, Whirl, Stripdown, Dervish and Pale Mauve. My favourite has got to be Whirl, I think this colour really suits me with or without tan, so I definitely gravitate to this one a lot. My go to shade and a fool proof everyday lip for me has got to be Dervish, we go way back and I always have one on stand by in my makeup bag. I love it, its the perfect pinky/nude and Its great for over lining your lips but still staying more on the natural side. Honestly if you haven’t tried Dervish you NEED to!
Soar is another favourite of mine. This was one of the first lipliners I bought way back when Kylie Jenner said she used it! It is honestly so pretty and I love wearing it with quite a flawless base and minimal eyeshadow for that real signature Kylie look!
Stripdown is one of my more recent buys, its a very true brown shade that doesn’t particularly suit me when I’m at my palest, but, looks killer for a night out with fake tan and a dark smokey eye for a really sultry vibe. Apparently this is one of Kim Kardashians favourite shades too.
The next one is my Bobbi Brown lipliner in the shade Pale Mauve. This is a great staple to have in your makeup bag as you can use it under most lipsticks, its a great multi-use liner. Its far too cool toned for me to wear it on its own, so I normally apply one of my brown/pink lipsticks over it which gives you an amazing pout.
So they are all my 90’s inspired lipliners! Hope you enjoyed this post and if you have any recommendations of colours to try I would love to hear them!
