Welcome to the new Health and Fitness categories of The Sound of Fashion! This year I decided to set myself the challenge of trying to eat cleaner and work out more. Im not resorting to full blown vegan-ism here, just cutting back on all the sugar and convenience foods and trying to exercise more regularly.
Ive always been a member of a gym and have been since I was about 19/20. During college I would go regularly about 3/4 times a week and was in the best shape of my life. But, when I started working full time last Christmas I fell into bad habits and stopped working out altogether. I would have lots of sweets and chocolate on the weekends while watching movies with friends and I began to eat out in restaurants a lot more. Oh, and going for cocktails became a regular occurrence. So all these bad habits lead to me becoming really unhealthy and quite self conscious about myself.
Last July I joined a new state of the art gym in my area. Its resources are amazing with a 50m swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and any type of fitness class you can think of. I thought by joining this cool flashy and not to mention pricey gym, it would motivate me to go and enjoy working out again. But, for some reason I still wasn’t 100% convinced. I would go through phases of going 3 times a week, then the following week I wouldn’t go at all! I kept using the age old ‘I’m tired’ from work excuse, and yeah I am still tired when I get home from work, I do stand on my feet for 8hrs a day, but I knew deep down I had to stop making excuses for myself and just go! Wether its a bad workout or a great workout, its better than no workout!
So this year is the year I WILL have the body of my dreams and be confident in my bikini! I made quite a few changes at the end of 2015 in terms of my diet, so, I’m going to continue eating healthier and promise myself to go to the gym at least 3 times a week! Ive basically stopped drinking cocktails altogether opting for the more humble G & T or vodka and tonic water. I don’t binge eat goodies while watching movies as much as I used to and Ive cut down on the choccy biscuits (my weakness). These are just small changes so far, but Ive got some plans for 2016 and I decided to document them right here. Hopefully this will motivate you to try to be a more healthier version of yourself, better late than never!
Ill be updating you with fitness and some healthy recipe options which I have found great for my new lifestyle, work life and social life and hopefully you will to.
