Hello everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend? Now that its Monday and the start of a new week, Ive been going through my wardrobe and deciding what pieces of clothing I purchased last year that I still actually wear? My rule is that if I haven’t worn it in 6 months Im probably not going to wear it anytime soon. So, I started to clear out my wardrobe for a fresh start and to make space for some new key pieces for spring/summer. I do love following fashion trends, but not every trend that appears every season is to my taste or will suit me. So I tend not to follow the trends too exactly, but, rather cater them to my liking, or only follow the ones which I know will suit my personality and be flattering to my figure!
Some trends I know I will be rocking this spring /summer are definitely the Rock Star look pioneered by Hedi Slimane and his Saint Laurent rock chick army. Im also digging the 70’s revival trend which I love because all the silhouettes are very flattering and feminine, and who doesn’t love a good bit of retro in their life? Another style I loved from the cat walks and is a bit naughty if you ask me, is the edgy sex kitten, I blame the Kim Kardashian affect, from bodycon and crop tops to sheer and barely there, leaving little or nothing to the imagination.
These will be the styles Im going to try and incorporate into my wardrobe this season. But something I am trying to do this year is buy investment pieces and not spend my money on cheaper alternatives that only last a couple of washes! We shall see how that goes?!
Here are my 4 favourite spring/summer ’15 fashion trends to help you choose the styles that you want to incorporate into your wardrobes. I have found some lovely items to incorporate each of these styles into your wardrobes which are all linked below.
1. SEVENTIES SPIN
This is not just about taking styles from the 70’s and making them popular again, “its about reinventing the classics.” – Louis Vuitton. Topshop, yet again, have this trend down to a T. They always seem to have that rockstar off duty look nailed, don’t they?
The hit pieces:
- very big shades
- the vintage style bag
- knee high boots – suede, of course
Louis Vuitton ss15
2. POWER BLOOMS
This trend is all about bright and bold floral designs made for the everyday modern woman. Simone Rocha and Céline are pioneers for this trend this season. My personal favourite take on this trend has to be Victoria Beckham’s minimalist approach with abstract prints and clean bright colours. The pieces that you will need:
- a spring shift dress
- the flower wedge
Victoria Beckham ss15
Wedges – Miu Miu ss15
3. ROCK STAR
Theres no escaping the coolness and sexiness of this edgy look, as we all need a bit of unexpected glitter and leather in our wardrobes. Every wardrobe could do with a bit of rock star attitude, perfect for your nights out on the town. Topshop have nailed this 70’s rock star look, check out some of their new arrivals for some cool inspo. The hit pieces:
- the printed neck tie
Saint Laurent ss15
- the smart leather jacket
- the flashy ankle boot
Biker waistcoat – Topshop £110.00 Leopard neck tie – Topshop £12.00
Boots – Tommy Hilfiger
4. SEX KITTEN
Balmain and Tom Ford ss’15
Call it the Kim Kardashian effect, and no this is not for the faint hearted! Its a simple look for instant impact and sex appeal. Heres how to work the trend if you want to look dynamite:
- The long laced boots
Tom Ford lace boots
- the jodhpur jeans
